How to change PF Bank Account Process ?

EPF account or pension money goes to that account, which is linked with your EPF account or UAN number. If your bank account linked with UAN has been closed or you want to change the bank account as per your convenience? Then this article is of your use. Understand before changing bank account

To change your bank account on EPF account or UAN portal, you must have two information-

  • UAN Number  : Your UAN number is used as the user ID on the UAN portal.
  • EPFO password:  Whatever password you have created while activating the UAN number, the same will be applied here.

Both of these (UAN Number and EPFO ​​Password) are needed to settle any other process related to PF online

How to Change Bank Account In PF?

With the help of your UAN number and password, you can convert your bank account to EPF account by completing just 5 steps. Its method is as follows-

  • Step 1: On your computer or mobile, open the UAN portal. Its link is- https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ .
  • On the right side , three empty boxes appear under Universal Account Number (UAN) MEMBER e-SEWA , in which you have to login by entering the following 3 things-
  • You have to enter your 12 digit UAN number in the blank box of the first number.
  • You have to enter your UAN password in the blank box of the second number .
  • In the empty box at number 3, Captcha has to be entered . Note: All characters in the Captcha must be exactly as they appear in the Captcha image. Meaning that write the capital letter only in the capital letter and type the small letter in the small letter only.
  • Then, click on the Sign In button at the bottom . With this you get logged into your EPF account.

Step 2: The dashboard of your EPF account opens in front of you. In this, 5 options appear in the top line (Main Menu)-

  • Home
  • View
  • Manage
  • Account
  • Online Services

You have to click on Manage . On clicking, a dropdown list opens, in which again 5 options appear-

  • Basic Details
  • Contact Details
  • key
  • E-Nomination
  • Mark Exit
  • You have to click on KYC .

Step 3: Add KYC page opens in front of you and click on KYC Document To Add appears under it. Just below it, the names of those KYC documents appear, whose details you can change (update) online. Their names are-

  • Bank
  • PAN
  • Aadhaar
  • Passport

You have to change your bank account number, so  click on the option of Bank present on the first number .

A new box of Bank Details appears below , in which you have to enter your following details-

  • Name as per Bank account: Your name is already entered in front of it.
  • Bank Account Number: Enter the number of your new bank account in the blank box in front of it.
  • Confirm Bank Account Number : Enter your new bank account number again, in the blank box.
  • Bank IFSC: Enter the IFSC code of the bank branch where your new bank account is located in the blank box.
  • On entering the IFSC code, the Click V erify IFSC key button will appear below . Verify your IFSC code by clicking on it. With this, the name of your bank and its branch will also appear on the screen. Check it carefully.
  • A one-line declaration appears immediately below the bank and branch name – I declare that the details provided above belong to me and can be used by EPFO ​​for Bank Verification . It means in Hindi that- I declare that, all the above given details are related to me and can be used for bank account verification on behalf of EPFO.
  • Tick ​​(✓) the small blank box before the declaration.
  • Finally, click on the save button at the bottom .

Step 4 : An OTP number will come on your mobile linked with Aadhaar , and your name and bank account details will finally be displayed on the screen once again. They put OTP present OTP below, by Czech, Submit , please click on the button. With this, the process is complete on your part. Its message will come on your mobile.

Format of the message: If your account is in SBI, then the message will be written like this-

Your bank account number is being verified from the bank. After successful verification from the bank it will be seeded against your UAN. A notification has been sent to your registered mobile: 95XXXXXXXX.”


This means that your bank account number is being verified by the bank. Once the verification is successfully completed, it will be linked to your UAN . An intimation in this regard has also been sent to your registered mobile number.

Step 5

Your new bank account will appear in the table of KYC Pending for Approval on the screen below . As soon as it is approved, it will be linked to your UAN/EPF account. With this, it will start appearing in the table for “ Currently Active KYC ”.

Who approves the new bank account details?

If your bank account is in SBI, then the details of the new bank account will be approved by SBI itself.

If your account is in a bank other than SBI, then your new bank account details will be approved by your employer (company or institution). The HR department of the company will update your bank account details through a digital signature on the Employer PF portal. Generally this process is completed in 2-3 days.

In the process of updating KYC, when you reach the third step Add KYC , there are also 3 tables below on this page in which the following data related to your EPF account is entered-


Currently Active KYC (List of KYC documents that are currently linked with your EPF account. Document Type and its number. Such as Bank Account, PAN, Aadhaar etc.

KYC Pending for Approval (List of KYC documents for which you have applied for change but are yet to be approved by EPFO.

KYC History (Approved/Rejected/Invalidated) (List of all the times a KYC document has been linked since the inception of your EPF account. The linker along with the date and time.
