Indians in this country got relief from cash and money exchange, will be able to make digital payments through PhonePe

Indians traveling from India to Nepal have got the facility of phone pay in Nepal, which has saved them from the hassle of money exchange. International UPI payment will have to be activated in ‘Bhim’, ‘Phone Pay’

Rajesh Kumar Sharma, president of India-Nepal Social Cultural Forum, an expert on Nepal-India issues, said that from Wednesday, an agreement was signed between the operator of ‘Phone Pay’ in Nepal and India’s National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). After the agreement, this facility has started from Wednesday itself. Under this, customers can make payment through Nepal QR using India’s ‘BHIM’ UPI and ‘Phone Pay’ service. To avail this service, international UPI payments will have to be activated in ‘Phone Pay’ and ‘BHIM’ app. After this, after coming to Nepal, you will be able to make payment by scanning the QR of ‘Phone Pay’.

People of Nepal will not get facilities at present when they come to India.

According to ‘Phone Pay’, facilities for inland payments have been started in more than half a dozen banks including e-service, Khalti Wallet in Nepal. Payment can be taken from the Indian customer in the ‘Phone Pay’ QR code distributed for the merchants of this financial institution. However, Nepali citizens have not yet got this facility in India. Nepali is awaiting approval from Nepal Rastra Bank to accept QR payments through ‘Phone Pay’.
