Land survey will be done in this state, High Court ordered to fix the deadline

Delhi Land Survey: A petition was filed in the Delhi High Court regarding unauthorized encroachment around government lands and historical places. Now the High Court has asked DDA and MCD to get the land surveyed and fix the deadline for it.

New Delhi. The Delhi High Court asked the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to finalize the agency to survey land in the national capital and give a timeline to complete the work. The court’s order has come on a petition related to unauthorized construction in Delhi. These unauthorized constructions also include construction in areas near centrally protected monuments.

The counsel appearing for the MCD told the Court that a meeting was held between the MCD Commissioner and the DDA Vice Chairman regarding this issue and it was decided that their respective lands in Delhi should be surveyed to ascertain their status. And it will be revisited every 6 months to detect any changes. A bench of acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Arora said, ‘Both MCD and DDA are directed to finalize the agency by which the survey of Delhi is to be conducted and provide a timeline as to when it will be completed.’ During the hearing, the court suggested that the entire city, including forest areas, should be surveyed by the authorities.

A map of the entire area will be made

The MCD counsel said each agency is responsible for its own land and this exercise can be replicated by other land owning agencies also. The lawyer said, ‘We are going to make a map of the entire area which comes under the purview of MCD, DDA. We will keep an eye on it and re-inspect it every six months, so that if there is any change in the construction, action can be taken against it. He also said that new technologies like satellite images, digital maps and drone surveys will be taken into consideration in the meeting. was done and it was proposed to survey the MCD and DDA lands by the Survey of India. The next hearing of the case will be on July 2.

High Court angry

Earlier, the High Court had expressed displeasure over unauthorized construction near Nizamuddin’s Baoli and Barakhamba tomb. The Delhi High Court, during the hearing of the case, remarked that despite the municipal body and an elaborate system for investigation, illegal construction was taking place on such a large scale in the heart of the national capital, which was never heard before. Delhi High Court said that it seems that the builder has no respect for the law. The High Court had directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to make structural reforms and come up with new strategies to deal with the menace of encroachment as well as illegal and unauthorized construction.
