lapsed LIC Policy: If you’ve ever purchased a Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) policy and, for some reason, failed to pay the premium on time, causing your policy to lapse, then this news is no less than a relief for you. People often miss premiums due to job changes, a drop in income, illness, or family responsibilities. This results in years of planning and security being shattered. To reconnect millions of such policyholders with insurance cover, LIC has launched a special revival campaign, making it easier and more affordable for everyone to revive a lapsed policy.

What is LIC’s Special Policy Revival Campaign?

This special policy revival campaign of LIC has come into effect from January 1, 2026. Actually, its purpose is to provide relief to those customers whose individual non-linked policy was closed due to non-payment of premium on time. So, the biggest benefit through this campaign is that a huge discount is being given on late fees. Generally, people step back due to penalty and extra charges at the time of policy revival, but this time LIC has reduced this burden to a great extent for everyone. Especially for micro insurance policy holders, this opportunity is going to be even more beneficial, because they are being given complete exemption from late fees.

How long is this LIC offer valid?

  • It’s important to note that this offer is for a limited time and will only last for two months.
  • That is, starting January 1, 2026, it will be valid until March 2, 2026.
  • Clearly, those whose policies have been inactive for a long time now have a fixed timeframe in which they can re-establish their insurance coverage at a lower cost.
  • It appears that this LIC campaign will bring more people back under life cover and restore the financial security of their families.

You’ll also receive a gift on late fees.

Now, the late fee discount is quite impressive. Up to 30 percent is being waived on late fees for non-linked policies. If the total premium payable is up to ₹1 lakh, the maximum discount is up to ₹3,000. This discount increases to ₹4,000 for premiums between ₹1 lakh and ₹3 lakh, while policies with premiums above ₹3 lakh are eligible for a maximum discount of ₹5,000. This offer is particularly special for micro insurance policyholders, as they will not have to pay any late fees.

Be sure to understand the terms of the revival campaign first.

However, some important conditions have been set for this revival campaign. Its benefits will only be available to policies that have lapsed within five years from the date of the first non-payment of premiums. Furthermore, the policy’s term must not have expired and it must have been discontinued during the premium payment period. However, it’s a relief that this revival process doesn’t require any medical tests or new health conditions.

So, overall, this campaign is a golden opportunity for those who want to revive their old LIC policy and ensure their family’s future is completely secure.
