Prahlada Modi, brother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sat on a dharna at Amausi Airport in Lucknow on Wednesday afternoon. He said that his colleagues have been arrested by the police. He warned of fasting by abandoning food grains. As soon as the officials got information about Prahlad Modi’s picket, there was a stir. The police officer was sent to him but he refused to listen to anything before the release of the supporters. His supporters were eventually released. He then left for the hotel with supporters.
Prahlad Modi, vice-president of the Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh and All India Fair Prize Shop Association, reached the capital by a 2am flight from Delhi. He was to be honored by the Yoga Social Society in Sultanpur and Jaunpur. The police had detained the organizer a day earlier, calling the society and its program fake. In such a situation, Prahlada Modi has insisted that the supporters and organizers who have been arrested, should be released unconditionally immediately.
Prahlada Modi said that the police had caught all those who were coming to receive me. Have sat in the police station. Preparations are on to file a case against them. I felt that my children should be in jail and I should stay outside, it is not good. Either release them or else I have sat on a hunger strike at the airport.
Prahlada Modi said that the police officers say that there is an order from the PMO. I say give me a copy of the order so that I can walk on the path of truth, but by committing hooliganism neither the government nor the PMO will benefit here. He said that I will not get up from here. I have abandoned food grains. I had many companions, about 100 above. Their vehicles have also been confiscated. I have come to know this. I had a program to go to Prayagraj from here and come back at night, but due to the problem of the police, it has been interrupted. I will not move until the police give me a copy of the order. He said that even going to the Supreme Court, I will show that justice is still pending.
In fact, Prahlad Modi was to be honored by the Yoga Social Society in Sultanpur, Jaunpur and Prayagraj. The police had arrested some supporters, including the society’s national director Hariram Jaiswal, calling the program fake. Prahlad Modi was going to Sultanpur to meet these people.
Being the brother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prahlad Modi’s sit-in stirred the officers. He was sent to the DCP to explain, but Prahlada remained adamant. Police officials then told Prahlada Modi that all his supporters had been released. He then left for the hotel along with his supporters. Police Commissioner DK Thakur said that Prahlada Modi has not been stopped anywhere. He can go wherever he wants to go.

Talking to the media in the hotel, Prahlad Modi said that he has done sit-in demonstration at Jantar Mantar many times. More than seven lakh people participated in the 25 September 2018 performance, which is on record. He said that he is not a farmer himself, so why go with the farmers. Prahlad Modi spoke to the SSP of Prayagraj from the hotel itself and said that he has a program there on Thursday, which he will definitely go to attend.
