Let us know its details.
What is the announcement
Last year in November, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced a scheme to provide free LPG cylinders to the beneficiaries of the state twice a year. These two occasions will be Diwali and Holi. Under this, free cylinders were given to the beneficiaries on Diwali. Now beneficiaries can avail this benefit even on Holi festival. There are more than 1.75 crore eligible families under this scheme.
What are the conditions
Those beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana who are residents of Uttar Pradesh will get its benefit. This means that only the people of the state can avail the benefit of the free gas cylinder scheme of the UP government. At the same time, beneficiaries will have to link their bank account with Aadhaar.
First term plan
Ujjwala scheme is for the first term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started it in the year 2016. Under this, more than 9 crore beneficiaries have been given free LPG connections. At the same time, a plan is also underway to provide 75 lakh additional connections in three years.
How much is the subsidy
Under the Ujjwala scheme, the central government gives a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder. However, till a few months ago this subsidy was of Rs 200. Last year, in the month of October, it was announced to increase the subsidy by additional Rs 100. This means that a subsidy of Rs 300 is available. This subsidy will continue to be available till 31 March 2025. Under the scheme, 12 LPG cylinders are available in a year.
