Bank Holiday: Banks will be closed in several states on Monday, September 29, 2025.. Private and public banks will remain closed in Agartala, Gangtok, and Kolkata on the occasion of Maha Saptami and Durga Puja. The months of September and October are full of festivals. Banking services will be affected on different days in different states due to major festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, Chhath Puja, and Durga Puja. However, online and mobile banking services will remain operational as usual.

The celebration of Durga Puja begins on Maha Saptami. On this day, the seventh form of Goddess Durga is worshipped, and rituals such as Ghatasthapana are performed in pandals. The grand idols, drums, and chants create a devotional atmosphere. This is why Maha Saptami is considered the most important day of Durga Puja, and devotees flock to temples and pandals in large numbers to worship the Goddess.

Holidays in September

September 29 (Monday): Maha Saptami/Durga Puja in Agartala, Gangtok, and Kolkata.

September 30 (Tuesday): Maha Ashtami/Durga Ashtami in several cities, including Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi.
