NEET PG 2025 New Date: The Supreme Court has approved the NBE to conduct the NEET PG exam on August 3, 2025. However, during the hearing, the Supreme Court questioned the NBE as to why such a long time (till August 3) is needed, as TCS already knows the centers. The court said, “You are delaying the process. This creates additional pressure for the students.”
NEET PG 2025 New Date: NEET PG exam will now be held on 3 August 2025. The Supreme Court, approving the petition of the National Board of Examination (NBE), has allowed the NEET-PG 2025 exam to be postponed from June 15 to August 3, 2025. This decision was taken because the court had earlier ordered that the exam be conducted in a single shift instead of two shifts.
During the hearing, NBE told that they would need additional 450 examination centers to conduct the examination in one shift, as earlier the examination was being conducted in two shifts at 450 centers. NBE’s lawyer said that it would take time to identify new centers, their security, technical needs and staff arrangements. He told that their technical partner TCS needs time for these preparations.
Supreme Court asked sharp questions to NBE
However, the Supreme Court questioned NBE as to why such a long time (till August 3) is needed, as TCS already has the information about the centres. The court said, “You are delaying the process. This creates additional pressure for the students.” The court also remarked that TCS only has to check the availability of centres, and not look for new centres.
SC allows NEET PG to be conducted on August 3
NBE said that they do not want to compromise on the fairness and security of the exam. The court agreed to this and said that they also want the same. Finally, considering the arguments and documents submitted by NBE, the court allowed the examination to be conducted on August 3, 2025, but made it clear that no more time would be given.
Along with this, NBE was directed to give students an opportunity to choose new examination centers and complete the examination process with complete transparency. This decision has brought relief and clarity to more than 2 lakh NEET-PG candidates who were facing uncertainty regarding the date of this important exam.
What happened during the hearing in the Supreme Court-
Court- You need time till August? Why so much time? You only have to identify and you haven’t started the process yet? The order was given last week. You are delaying! You need two months for this? Only the centres have to be found
Counsel- After finding the centres, students should be given a fresh opportunity to choose the centres. There are other things too…
Court- We know how TCS works. The time you are asking for is too long. The whole process is getting delayed. Students are under extra pressure because of the extra time.
NBE counsel- Have to ensure that the centres are safe, have the technical requirements and have the required manpower
Petitioner- TCS has 60,000 centres.
NBE- It is difficult to find a centre.
Court- TCS is only in the whole process of selection, they know all the centres. They just have to see if the centres are available or not.
ASG- Now double the number of centres will be needed.
Court- I don’t know why you want such a long time.
NBE- We don’t want the exam to be compromised in any way.
Court- We don’t want that either.
The court agreed to give time till August 3.
Court- August 3 is the earliest possible date requested by NBE as given by its technology partner TCS. After going through the attached papers, we are satisfied that the prayer for extension and rescheduling it is justified. The time limit given for conducting the NEET exam by our previous order has been extended. No further extension will be given now.
