From August 15, 2025, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is going to implement a new system, which will make paying toll easier and more economical. Now you will be able to buy a toll pass for a year through FASTag– that too for just ₹ 3,000!
What is the new FASTag annual pass?
NHAI has launched a FASTag annual pass for private vehicles (car, jeep, van), which will be valid for one year or 200 free toll trips, whichever expires first. That is, for ₹ 3,000, you can either travel 200 times on national highways and expressways without paying toll, or for one year. This will provide great relief to those who travel up and down on the highway every day–like office goers, daily travelers from small towns to metro cities, or people associated with the travel business.
Where will you get the benefit, where will you not?
This pass will be applicable only on national highways and expressways managed by the central government. But this pass will not be valid on state highways, local body roads or state-managed expressways where toll has to be paid.
How to activate?
Activating this pass is also very easy. All you have to do is login to NHAI’s ‘RajmargYatra’ mobile app or official website. Know the step-by-step method below:
Go to the RajmargYatra app or website.
- Log in with your FASTag account (mobile number, registration number and FASTag ID will be required).
- The system will check your vehicle and FASTag.
- After successful verification, pay ₹3,000– by UPI, card or net banking.
- Once the payment is confirmed, your pass will be activated within 2 hours.
- You will also get confirmation of activation by SMS or email.
Some important points
This pass will be valid only for the vehicle on which FASTag is registered. It is non-transferable i.e. it cannot be used in another vehicle. After completion of 200 trips or after the expiry of one year, the pass will be closed and your FASTag will work normally. Next time you can reactivate it by paying ₹ 3,000 again.
