Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in Bhopal’s transportation landscape. With the inauguration of the Metro service, the capital will enjoy modern, fast, and safe public transportation. In the first phase, the Metro will operate on the Orange Line’s priority corridor, from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS, which includes eight stations. This service will play a vital role in reducing the city’s growing traffic and promoting eco-friendly travel.
New metro train: The long wait for Bhopal residents is coming to an end today. The Bhopal Metro will be inaugurated today. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will launch it at 4 pm at the Kushabhau International Convention Center. The Chief Minister and Union Minister will then flag off the metro at the Subhash Nagar Metro Station and also take a ride.
Metro service for the general public will begin on December 21st. In the first phase, the Orange Line “Priority Corridor” will be launched. This will provide metro service on a route of approximately 6.22 kilometers from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS, covering a total of eight stations. Bhopal Metro tickets will start at ₹20 and go up to ₹40, depending on the distance between stations.
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav to inaugurate Metro today
If you’re in the mood for recreation and are in the capital Bhopal this Sunday, you can enjoy a metro ride. Metro rail service is starting for Bhopal residents from Sunday. Today, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will inaugurate the metro service. The total length of the Bhopal Metro project is 30.8 kilometers. It includes two lines: the Orange Line (16.74 km) and the Blue Line (14.16 km). The entire project is estimated to cost approximately ₹10,033 crore. The priority corridor being launched in the first phase is estimated to cost ₹2,225 crore. Upon completion of both corridors, the metro rail will connect most parts of the city.

‘Priority Corridor’ to be launched in the first phase
The priority corridor of the Orange Line is being launched in the first phase of the Bhopal Metro. It is approximately 7 kilometers long and includes a total of 8 elevated stations. These stations are AIIMS, Alkapuri, DRM Office, Rani Kamlapati Station, MP Nagar, Board Office Square, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Subhash Nagar. This corridor connects busy areas of the city, providing great relief to office-goers, students, and patients. The corridor is estimated to carry 3,000 passengers daily.

The Bhopal Metro features state-of-the-art passenger convenience and safety. High-speed elevators and escalators are available at all stations for convenient travel. Accessible entry, wheelchair access, and Braille signage are provided for the disabled. Safety measures include AI-based CCTV surveillance, platform screen doors, and a Grade 4 signaling system. Energy generation through regenerative braking and solar power is being utilized to make the Metro eco-friendly. AC coaches feature comfortable seating and mobile charging points. Smart technology also includes an audio-visual passenger information system and a high-tech operation control center to monitor the entire operation.
