New portal will increase tax compliance, many facilities in new website of Income Tax Department, returns will be able to be filled even from mobile

The new website for tax returns of the Income Tax Department was launched on Monday night. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday that this would increase tax compliance. Announcing the launch of the new portal www.incometax.gov.in, the Finance Minister said that it is an important step to make the tax compliance experience more taxpayer friendly.




With the new website 2.0 for e-filing, there is a single window system for tax related matters. Many new features have been given in this, so that taxpayers can file returns sitting at home and even from their mobile. It is the effort of the government that through this website not only the return filing of taxpayers will be made easy but their refund will also be speeded up.

According to the information given by the Ministry of Finance, all the major services available through the portal on desktop have also been made available on the Income Tax Department mobile app. You will be able to pay using cards and RTGS or NEFT. Keeping in view the convenience of the taxpayers and the increasing use of mobile, the Income Tax Department is going to provide the facility of tax returns from the mobile app.

According to the Income Tax Department, it will be easy to use the new portal through mobile. Pre-filled income tax details, ITR forms and simple facilities will be made available on this. Along with this many other facilities will also be available. Experts say that if there is any discrepancy in the given information, only then the Income Tax Department will demand the document as its need has already been exhausted.

App will tell how to return

The Income Tax Department says that mobile will be very important in this new portal. The department says that on the portal, income tax payers will get guidelines at every step through user manuals and video clips, ie how to file tax returns.

Payment details will be displayed immediately

In the old website NSDL was given the responsibility, in which the payment details would be displayed much later after the submission of the challan, but in the new website its details would be shown immediately after the payment. Apart from this, CBDT is also going to introduce a new tax payment system from June 18.

You will get all the necessary information

The details of all the work done by the taxpayer will be displayed on the dashboard. In this, information about all kinds of communication done by the department and documents uploaded or pending work will be kept.

This website will contain a list of frequently asked questions and answers (F&Qs). Not only this, tax related content, video and chatbot will also be present which will solve the doubts of the taxpayers. Apart from this, if any question is still not resolved, then the help of newly created call center can be taken.
