The allegations of her elder sister and sister-in-law Kanchan have made this case even more sensational. Kanchan made a big allegation and said that her in-laws wanted to get rid of Nikki. They wanted my sister to leave the house so that Vipin could be married again. I was also beaten up when I protested. I was injured and unconscious the whole day. Kanchan says that the harassment that started in the name of dowry had now turned into a conspiracy to eliminate my sister.

Panchayat was being held continuously

Rajsingh, a resident of Roopbas village of Dadri police station area, said that his nieces Kanchan and Nikki were married to two brothers Rohit and Vipin Bhati of Sirsa village in December 2016. According to Rajsingh, Scorpio car, gold-silver and other items were given in the marriage. But despite this, right after the marriage, the in-laws started demanding an additional 35 to 36 lakh rupees. A car was also given to them on their request, but their demand did not end. They told that both the sisters had to face beatings and mental torture every day. Panchayat was held many times, attempts were made for a settlement, but the accused party never showed any improvement.

Painful scene of the night of death

The deceased’s elder sister Kanchan narrated the painful scene of that night. She told that Vipin and other family members beat Nikki brutally. She was attacked on her neck and head. The sister became unconscious. After this, inflammable substance was poured on her and she was set on fire. With the help of neighbors, Nikki was first taken to Fortis Hospital in Greater Noida, from where she was referred to Safdarjung Hospital. But Nikki died on the way. The family performed Nikki’s last rites and then reached Kasna police station demanding action.

Painful statement of innocent son

Nikki’s six-year-old son was also present in this incident. A video of the child went viral on social media, in which he is clearly seen saying, poured something on my mother, then slapped her and set her on fire with a lighter. After the video went viral, people’s anger flared up further. People are asking that till when will daughters have to suffer such cruel death in the name of dowry.

Encounters and arrests

The police showed speed in this case. The main accused husband Vipin Bhati was arrested and presented in the court, from where he was sent to 14 days judicial custody. But the incident did not end here. When the police took Vipin to Sirsa intersection to recover evidence, he snatched the police pistol and tried to run away. The police chased him, warned him, it is claimed that when he did not stop, the police had to fire in self-defense.

The bullet hit Vipin’s leg and he was admitted to the hospital. Meanwhile, his mother Dayawati, who was absconding since the incident, was caught by the police on the information of an informer near JIMS hospital. Dayawati was going to meet her injured son. The police arrested her. A case has been registered in Kasna police station against husband Vipin, brother-in-law Rohit, mother-in-law Dayawati and father-in-law Satveer under murder, dowry harassment and other sections.

ADCP gave information

Greater Noida ADCP Sudhir Kumar said, on the night of August 21, Kasna police station received information from Fortis Hospital that a woman has been admitted in a burnt condition. She was referred to Safdarjung Hospital, but she died on the way. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem. A case has been registered against four family members including the husband on the complaint given by the deceased’s sister. The husband has been arrested and teams have been formed to arrest the other accused. Arrest will be ensured soon.
