Noida Schools Closed: Due to dense fog and cold weather in Noida, schools have been declared closed for two days until January 18th. According to a new notice issued by the Gautam Buddha Nagar Education Officer, all schools up to grade 8 will be closed from January 16th to 17th.
According to the official circular, the winter vacation has been extended by two days. Since January 18th is a Sunday, classes will resume on January 19th. However, teachers and staff will be required to attend school as per their regular schedule.
District Officer Issues Notice
The Gautam Buddha Nagar District Primary Education Officer’s office, in a notification issued on January 16, stated, “In view of the current dense fog and cold weather, all schools (nursery to class 8) affiliated to all boards (CBSE/ICSE/IB, Uttar Pradesh Board, and others) operating in Gautam Buddha Nagar district will remain closed from January 16 to 17, 2026. This order must be strictly followed.”
It further stated, “Teachers and staff of government/aided/private schools will attend school as usual.”
Holidays extended in these districts of UP
In addition to Noida, holidays have been extended in several other districts of UP. Schools in Prayagraj will remain closed until January 20. In Saharanpur, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, Badaun, and Bareilly, orders have been issued to keep schools up to class 8 closed until January 17. Schools here will also reopen on Monday, January 19.
Most schools are closed this week
In addition to Uttar Pradesh, schools in several other states have been closed for the entire week, including Haryana and Chandigarh. In most states, the cold wave has been cited as the reason. Children from nursery to eighth grade have been given this relief; schools for higher classes have reopened after the Makar Sankranti holidays.
