Noida Commercial Vehicles Tax: Commercial vehicle owners in Noida have received significant relief from the Transport Department. Commercial vehicles will no longer have to pay taxes repeatedly.
One-Time Tax’ system: The Transport Department has made a significant and beneficial change to the tax system for commercial vehicle drivers in Noida. Light commercial vehicles are now free from the hassle of repeatedly paying taxes. Under the new system, a “one-time tax” system has been implemented for commercial vehicles with a gross weight of up to 7,500 kg, effective January 30th. This decision is expected to directly benefit approximately 1.25 lakh commercial vehicles operating in Noida and surrounding areas.
Previously, drivers of taxis, maxi cabs, bike cabs, cargo carriers, and other special categories of commercial vehicles had to pay taxes every year or every six months. This not only resulted in wasted time and money, but also resulted in fines for missing tax due dates. With the implementation of the new system, vehicle operators will have to pay a fixed tax amount once, eliminating long-term tax concerns.
The aim is to simplify taxes.
According to Sub-Divisional Transport Officer Nand Kumar, the aim of this change is to simplify taxes and encourage people to enter the transportation business. He says that the cumbersome process of repeatedly filing taxes had deterred many from entering the sector, but now this hassle will be largely eliminated. While certain categories of vehicles will still be subject to tax for a fixed period, most light and medium commercial vehicles are now covered by this scheme.
The new tax system sets different rates for different types of commercial vehicles. Two-wheeled motorcycles operated for hire or hire will be charged a lump sum tax of 12.5 percent of the vehicle’s value. For three-wheeled motor cabs, this rate is 7 percent. For four-wheeled motor cabs and maxi cabs, the tax is based on the vehicle’s value. If the price of the vehicle is up to Rs 10 lakh, then 10.5 percent tax will be levied on it, whereas vehicles priced above Rs 10 lakh will have to pay 12.5 percent tax.
Cranes, drilling machines, concrete mixers, and other heavy equipment are taxed at 6 percent of the vehicle’s total cost. For freight vehicles, the tax will be based on their gross vehicle weight and cargo carrying capacity. Freight vehicles with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 3,000 kilograms will be taxed at 3 percent, while vehicles with a GVW between 3,000 and 7,500 kilograms will be taxed at 6 percent.
