Manas Bihari Verma, born in Bauer village of Ghanshyampur block of Darbhanga district, was living in his native district after retiring from DRDO in the year 2005.
Padma Shri honoree scientist Dr. Manas Bihari Verma died on Tuesday at his residence in Lahariyasarai Mohalla, Darbhanga city of Bihar. Verma’s nephew and senior journalist Pranab Kumar Chaudhary said that his maternal uncle died late last night at his residence in Darbhanga due to a heart attack. He told that he was 78 years old.
Born in Bauer village of Ghanshyampur block of Darbhanga district, Verma was living in his native district after retiring from DRDO in the year 2005. Governor Fagu Chauhan has expressed deep condolences on the demise of defense scientist Padmashree Verma.
Played a key role in making Tejas
He said that he had an important role in the construction of the country’s first supersonic fighter aircraft ‘Tejas’. He was also an associate of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He said that after his retirement from DRDO, he remained associated with social service. His death is very sad.
The Governor has prayed to God for the peace of the departed soul and to provide patience, courage and strength to the family. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also deeply mourned the death of Verma.
Irreparable damage to scientific field
He said that Dr. Verma’s contribution in making the Indian Air Force more lethal is unforgettable. He said that there has been irreparable damage in scientific and social fields due to the demise. He has prayed to God for the peace of the departed soul and his family to give him the strength to bear patience in this hour of grief.
