PM Awas Yojana: Millions of people got benefit of PM Awas Yojana, due to which many were named out of the list

PM Awas Yojana: The Ministry of Rural Development said on Tuesday that 2.14 crore beneficiaries have been found eligible so far under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-G) and this number is likely to be reduced further.

New Delhi. The Ministry of Rural Development said on Tuesday that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-G Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 2.14 crore beneficiaries have been found eligible so far and this number is likely to be reduced. Although 2.95 crore families were initially included in this list, through verification done at several levels at the time of approval, many houses were not found eligible. The ministry said that hence this list has been limited to 2.14 crore. Further this number is likely to decrease further.

As of now the number of eligible beneficiaries has fallen from 2.95 crore to 2.14 crore, a survey named ‘Housing Plus’ was conducted by all the states / UTs with the help of field officers to identify the families who are eligible. The plan has not been included in the permanent waiting list.

Reduced the limit of 2.95 crore houses

The statement said that in July 2020, the Ministry of Rural Development included the eligible families in the permanent waiting list of the scheme in addition to the final ‘Housing Plus’ list with a limit of 2.95 crore houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). The proposal was agreed to. The results of the survey are being reviewed for eligibility and will be implemented after that.

Which people benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

The benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) was earlier only for the poor. But now, by increasing the amount of home loan, the poor and middle class of urban areas have also been brought under its ambit. Initially, the amount of home loan in PMAY ranged from 3 to 6 lakh rupees, on which interest subsidy was given, now it has been reduced to 18 lakh rupees.




Know what are the terms and conditions

To take advantage of the scheme, the age of the applicant should be 21 to 55 years. If the head of the family or the applicant is over 50 years of age, then his principal legal heir will be included in the home loan. The annual household income for EWS (lower economic class) is fixed at Rs 3 lakh. The annual income for LIG (low income group) should be between 3 lakh to 6 lakh. Now people with annual income up to Rs 12 and 18 lakhs can also take advantage of this.

How much income will be benefited

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, a credit linked subsidy of 6.5 per cent is available only on loans up to six lakh rupees. People earning up to Rs 12 lakh per annum can avail four percent interest subsidy on loans up to Rs 9 lakh. At the same time, people with an annual income of up to Rs 18 lakh can avail three percent interest subsidy on loans up to Rs 12 lakh.
