Due to all these conditions, the problem of food and drink has come in front of the poor, in view of which the Central Government has decided to provide food grains to them free of cost in May and June 2021. According to the information, about 80 crore beneficiaries will be given five kilograms of free grains for two months in May and June under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. The government will spend more than 26 thousand crore rupees on this scheme.
The scheme was launched in March last year
The lockdown was imposed across the country last year due to the Corona epidemic. Due to this, the work was stopped, then there was no option but to go back to the village in front of the migrant laborers. Apart from this, there was a livelihood problem in front of people in the villages too. In view of this, in March 2020, the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana was launched.
Five kilograms of grains per person and one kilo of pulses per family
Last year, the central government gave five kilograms of wheat or rice per person and one kg of pulses per family free of cost to more than 80 crore ration card holders for April, May and June under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana Declared. The scheme was later extended to 30 November 2020. The special thing is that this grain was being given, it was in addition to the quota of food grains available on the ration card.
