What are the benefits of Jan Dhan account
If you have opened an account in any bank under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, then you can avail a total benefit of Rs 2.30 lakh. Accident insurance of Rs 1,00,000 along with general insurance of Rs 30,000 is given to Jan Dhan account holders.
If the Jan Dhan account holder has an accident, then he is given Rs 30,000. If the account holder dies in an accident, then he is given Rs 2 lakh. In this context, the Jan Dhan account holder can get up to Rs 2.30 lakh.
In the year 2018, when the Jan Dhan account scheme was started, then only one lakh rupees accidental cover was available under this scheme. The amount of accidental cover has been increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh with effect from August 28, 2018.

Any Indian citizen can open Jan Dhan account. To open a Jan Dhan account, the age of the applicant should be 10 years or more.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, most of the accounts are opened in public sector banks. If you have a savings account with any bank, then you can convert it to Jan Dhan account.
If you want to open your new Jan Dhan account, then you can open the account by visiting your nearest bank branch. For this, you have to go to the nearest bank branch and fill a new application form. After the submission of all the documents, your new Jan-Dhan bank account starts.
