PR Application: There is a big opportunity for foreign nationals wishing to get permanent residence in Canada. The Canadian Immigration Authority (Immigration) has invited foreign nationals to apply for Permanent Residency i.e. PR. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced the results of the Express Entry draw under Health and Social Service Occupations. Under this, 4,000 Express Entry invitations have been issued to eligible foreign nationals on July 12.

The minimum rank to be invited for PR application must be 4,000 or more. On July 21, under the Provincial Nominee Program of the Express Entry System, IRCC sent 202 invitations to selected foreign nationals, of which the lowest ranked candidate has a CRS score of 788. Indians are a large number of foreigners living in Canada. A large part of Indians are PR seekers. In such a situation, this program is good news for Indian citizens.

Canada Express Entry Program

Canada’s Express Entry program is a popular way for foreigners seeking employment and permanent residence in the country. It is for skilled immigrants seeking permanent residence in Canada. It is done by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under various programs such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Provincial Nominee Program.

The Healthcare and Social Service Occupation category is of special importance in this program. A member of this category is someone who must have at least six months of work experience. This experience must be gained over a continuous period within three years preceding the day the category was established.

Changes made to the rules

On March 25 this year, Canada withdrew ‘job offer points’ from the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) in the Express Entry pool. This will apply to both current and prospective candidates. The removal of ‘job offer points’ from the Comprehensive Ranking System will not apply to all categories, but only to those classified under Major Group 00 of the National Occupation Classification.
