The Punjab government has implemented a new health scheme that will provide significant relief to the general public. Under this scheme, every family in Punjab will now receive free treatment up to ₹10 lakh. This scheme, called the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme, was announced during a program held in Mohali.
Amidst rising medical costs and the fear of serious illnesses, the Punjab government has taken a significant step to provide relief to the state’s people. The “Chief Minister’s Health Scheme” has been implemented in Punjab to make healthcare accessible to the common man. Under this new scheme, every family in the state will now receive free treatment up to ₹10 lakh. The government claims that this decision will enable even the poorest of the poor to access quality treatment without financial concerns.
Announcing the scheme during an event in Mohali, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that the changes that have taken place in Punjab over the past four years will be written in golden letters in the state’s history. He said that when he previously visited Punjab, he would talk to the public about Kejriwal’s guarantees, and the health scheme was the most important of those guarantees. At that time, the Congress government failed to implement the scheme, citing a lack of funds, but today, the same work has been done.
Kejriwal’s big claim
Kejriwal said that the Aam Aadmi Party government has accomplished what couldn’t be accomplished in the last 75 years in just four years. He claimed that there is no longer a shortage of doctors in Punjab’s government hospitals and that the health infrastructure has improved significantly. Many times, people were unable to get treatment due to serious illnesses, but with the launch of this new scheme, any needy person will now be able to go to any hospital and get treatment.
‘People first, not foreign countries’
He also said that while many chief ministers of the country are on foreign tours, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was working for the public good. Kejriwal sarcastically remarked that Mann would have also wanted to go to Switzerland, but he gave up foreign travel and prioritized making health cards for the people.
Strict on drugs
Kejriwal also mentioned the government’s strictness on the issue of drug abuse. He said that the drug situation in Punjab was extremely bad, but the Aam Aadmi Party government took action against prominent politicians and sent an influential leader to jail. Following this, leaders from various political parties criticized the government, as they were previously in collusion with each other.
