All ration card holders have been asked to complete the e-KYC process of their ration card by 30 June 2025. If the beneficiaries do not do this work by the stipulated time, then their name may be removed from the ration card.
Ration Card Canceled: The central government has taken important steps to make the ration distribution system better and transparent. All ration card holders have been asked to complete the e-KYC process of their ration card by 30 June 2025. If the beneficiaries do not do this work by the stipulated time, then their name may be removed from the ration card. Apart from this, they may stop getting free or cheap ration.
Actually, the aim of the government is to further strengthen the ration distribution system. Because many times cases have come to light of some people taking advantage of ration card in the wrong way, making fake cards and taking ration despite being ineligible. Such cases have also come to light that even after the death of the beneficiary, his family members continue to take advantage of it in his name. To stop all these frauds, the government has made e-KYC mandatory.
This process is done through Aadhar card, in which the identity of the ration card holder and all the members of his family is verified. E-KYC will ensure that the benefit of ration reaches only the right and needy people. The government had earlier fixed its last date as 31 March 2025, but many people faced technical problems and lack of information. Therefore, now it has been extended to 30 June 2025.
This is how you can do e-KYC
This process can be completed both offline and online. For offline process, you have to go to your nearest ration shop or common service center. There you have to take your ration card and Aadhaar cards of all family members with you. Your biometric verification (such as thumbprint or face scanning) will be done through the POS machine present at the ration shop. After this your ration card will be linked to Aadhaar. For online process, you can use apps like Mera Ration or Aadhaar Face RD. Download these apps from Google Play Store, enter your Aadhaar number and complete the verification through OTP. Then turn on the camera for facial scanning and complete the process.
You may have to suffer loss due to lack of KYC
If the beneficiaries do not do e-KYC by June 30, then they may face problems. In such a situation, the ration card of the beneficiary may be canceled or it can be deactivated. The beneficiary may also stop getting free ration or cheap ration. Apart from this, the names of those who have not done KYC can be removed from the beneficiary list, which will make it difficult to avail the benefits of government schemes. If the ration card is canceled, then you will have to apply to the food department to get it started again.
In case of name being deleted, the beneficiary can go to his local food supply office or ration shop and find out the reason for it. After this, apply again with the necessary documents like Aadhar card, residence certificate, and a copy of the ration card. In some cases, such as due to mobile number not being updated or incorrect information, the name may be removed. After submitting all the documents, your name can be added again.
