Only 10% users are Aadhaar verified!
If you look at the IRCTC website, currently it has more than 13 crore active users, but the thing to note is that only around 10% of these users are Aadhaar verified. If reports are to be believed, then Indian Railways is going to make the rules stricter so that the Tatkal ticket booking process can be made stronger and only Aadhaar verified IRCTC account is allowed to do Online Tatkal Ticket Booking. After the introduction of this system, Aadhaar based OTP authentication will be necessary for Tatkal ticket booking.
3.5 crore fake IDs blocked
According to reports, there is also a possibility that counter based Tatkal tickets can also be booked after Aadhaar verification to control the irregularities during Tatkal Ticket booking. Meanwhile, let us tell you that IRCTC has blocked 3.5 crore fake user IDs in the last one year, due to which the congestion of the system on its platform has reduced considerably. In a major step towards bringing fairness in the railway ticket booking system, IRCTC has come up with solutions using AI-based advanced techniques to curb unauthorised ticketing by detecting and deactivating such user IDs created with disposable (short-term) email addresses and ensuring equal access to all passengers, PTI quoted an official as saying.
Big impact after this action
According to IRCTC, the positive results of this action have already come to the fore, the number of new user IDs being created on our platform has come down from 60 thousand to 65 thousand per day to only 10,000 to 12,000, which has reduced the system load and streamlined ticket reservations. IRCTC officials emphasized that this step ensures equal opportunity for every passenger, preventing unauthorized agents from taking advantage of the system.
