Ration Card New Rules: In Telangana, ration will be given from mobile OTP instead of biometric

new Delhi. Ration Card Scheme is run to provide food grains to the needy at an affordable price. Under this, people from poor class to middle class can avail. Several changes were made to it during the Corona period, including biometric distribution. So that fraud can be controlled. But given the threat of infection, now biometric will be replaced by mobile OTP (ITP) and grain distribution through iris authentication. This rule will come into force in Telangana from February 1.

According to a media report, all card holders will be required to link their Aadhar card to the mobile number for rationing. OTP will be sent to this number, showing which the beneficiaries will be able to take food grains from the ration center. The Telangana state government has taken this decision following an order issued by the High Court. It is known that a petition was filed in the court, in which the possibility of spreading corona infection from biometric authentication was suspected. In such a situation, the court gave these instructions keeping in mind the safety of the people.



There are around 8744,251 ration card holders in the state of Telangana. Under the new rule, Annapurna and Antodaya card holders, including all ration card holders of the state, will now be able to get ration only through OTP. This OTP will be sent to the mobile number associated with their Aadhar card to the people of the district. According to the state government, it will also be easier to keep the details of the data. Also, fraud will be controlled.
