According to a research published in the Journal Environmental Science & Technology, gas stoves emit such air pollutants, which WHO has considered dangerous for health. These pollutants are carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, which cause the risk of respiratory and heart diseases. Not only this, it also increases the chances of getting cancer.

According to another research published in Nutrition and Cancer Journal, cooking on high flame can produce carcinogens, which are not considered good for different parts of the body.

Easy way to cook roti on direct flame

In earlier times, roti was baked on a griddle by pressing it with a kitchen towel. Due to which the roti did not come in direct contact with the law. However, making bread in this way changes its test.

But after the invention of tongs, people started cooking bread directly on the flame. It is really an easy way to make more rotis in less time. In this way the roti gets roasted properly from all the sides and does not remain raw.

Carcinogenic comes out from cooking roti on direct flame

A report was published in 2011 by Dr Paul Brent, Chief Scientist at Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ). As per reports, when bread comes in direct contact with the flame of the gas, it produces a chemical called acrylamide.

However, this report was about burnt toast. But since wheat flour also contains a certain level of natural sugar and protein, which if heated on direct flame, can produce carcinogenic, which is not at all safe for human beings.

So shouldn’t roti be cooked on direct flame?

If we look at the available data, then the consumption of bread cooked on direct flame is not safe at all. This causes cancer. How much truth is there in this cannot be said. Some more studies are still needed in this matter.

Other Foods That Can Cause Cancer

According to studies, when meat including meat, beef, fish, or poultry is cooked using high temperature, it becomes carcinogenic and increases the risk of cancer. Cooking methods include pan frying, or grilling directly over an open flame. A research paper states that people who eat more hamburgers are 79% more likely to develop prostate cancer.
