SBI Card New Rules: The State Bank of India (SBI) has announced a new charge structure for its credit card users, effective November 1, 2025. According to this new rule, if a customer pays school or college fees using their SBI credit card through third-party apps like CRED, Cheq, or MobiKwik, they will incur an additional charge of 1% of the transaction amount. However, if the payment is made directly through the school, college, or university’s official website or through a POS machine, no such fee will be charged.

In addition, if SBI cardholders load a wallet with an amount exceeding ₹1,000, a 1% fee will apply. This rule applies to merchant codes set by network partners and may change from time to time. SBI has informed cardholders of this change in advance so they can plan their expenses appropriately. As per the previous rules, there is no fee on transactions from ₹0 to ₹500, but after that the fee amount increases, which has now become even stricter with the new changes.

Additionally, other common charges for SBI cardholders, such as cash withdrawal fees, check payment fees, and late payment fees, remain unchanged. However, failure to pay the minimum monthly balance for two consecutive billing cycles will result in an additional ₹100 charge per cycle. SBI advises customers to regularly review their transaction and billing details and plan their spending accordingly to avoid unnecessary charges.

This new fee structure is aimed at controlling digital payments and increasing transparency in transactions. This will help SBI card users better plan their spending, while enabling the bank to better manage its finances.
