School Holiday: There is important news for students and teachers of secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh. The Secondary Education Department released the holiday schedule for the new academic session 2026 on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Under this, 238 days out of 365 days have been set aside for teaching work, 112 days for holidays, and 15 days for board/examination work in the state’s secondary schools.
According to the holiday schedule released by Director of Secondary Education, Dr. Mahendra Dev, there will be 28 public holidays in the new year. Summer vacation will run from May 21 to June 30. The first holiday will be on January 3, on the occasion of Hazrat Ali’s birthday. Holi holidays will be available on March 2 and 4. Holidays will be available on November 8, 9, and 11 for Diwali. 15 days have been set aside for board examinations.
Leave will be granted in special circumstances
In special circumstances, the Principal/Headmaster will have the discretion to grant up to three days off, based on local needs. Married female teachers will receive leave for Karva Chauth. Additionally, female teachers observing fasts on Hartalika Teej or Hariyali Teej, Sankatha Chaturthi, Halshasthi, Lalai Chhath, Jiutiya Vrat, and Ahoi Ashtami will be granted two days off based on their application from the Headmaster or Principal.
Local holidays will be granted upon the instructions of the District Magistrate. School programs will be organized on national holidays. Condolence meetings will be held only for the death of teachers, staff, and students working in schools.
