Punjab and UP governments have declared a public holiday on Wednesday, February 26 on the occasion of the holy festival of Mahashivratri. On this day, there will be a holiday in government offices, government and private schools and colleges across the state.
School Holiday 2025: There is good news for school students. In view of the ever-increasing number of devotees in the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, the district administration has decided to keep all schools up to class 8 closed till February 20.
District Basic Education Officer Praveen Kumar Tiwari said that the students will have a holiday till February 20 but teachers will be present in the school. The district administration has directed to continue online teaching up to class eight in all board schools of Varanasi city till February 22.

Where will schools remain closed in February

- According to the holiday schedule of the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council, there will be a holiday in schools from class 1 to 8 on February 26.
- Schools will remain closed on February 23 due to Sunday.
- Schools may remain closed in Maharashtra and some other states due to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on February 19.
- Voting for the Chhattisgarh three-tier Panchayat elections is on February 17, 20 and 23, during which all government offices, colleges and schools will remain closed.
- There will be a public and general holiday in the constituencies on February 17 and 20.
- A separate public / general holiday has not been declared due to Sunday on February 23.
Schools will open in Jammu and Kashmir from March
All schools up to class 5 in Jammu and Kashmir are closed from 10 December 2024 and will remain closed till 28 February 2025. Schools from class 6 to 12 are closed from 16 December 2024 and will remain closed till 28 February 2025, so now the schools will open only in March.
