Vehicle Scrappage Policy: Nitin Gadkari has introduced the scrap policy in Lok Sabha today. Through this policy, in addition to reducing pollution, the government is emphasizing to give a boost to the automobile sector of the country. Various incentives will also be given for scraping old vehicles.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has given information about the upcoming scrap policy in Lok Sabha today. According to Nitin Gadkari, this scrap policy will not only give a boost to the economy, but will also help in removing old vehicles from the roads. It will also help in reducing pollution. Gadkari said that this policy will also be notified within the next one month. Through this scrap policy, the central government wants to complete many tasks. Apart from reducing pollution with the help of the policy, the automobile industry will also be helped in giving a boost. Let us know what Nitin Gadkari announced in the Lok Sabha regarding the scrap policy and how it will affect your life.

After the implementation of this policy, 10-15 percent can be availed on the end of life cycle of old vehicles. This voluntary scrap policy was first mentioned by the central government in the general budget.

Automated fitness centers will be opened

There are four major components of a scrap policy. In addition to the rebate in the policy, there is also a provision to collect green tax from old vehicles. All old vehicles will have to be tested for phytanes and pollution after a certain time. For this, work is being done at the Automated Fitness Center. Nitigan Gadkari said that the government is working on it.

These automated fitness tests are being prepared on the basis of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Under this, the central government will work closely with states and private players.

Those vehicles who have failed the fitness test will also have to pay a heavy penalty for driving the vehicle. In terms of growth in the automobile sector of the country, this policy is also considered as a good policy. Nitin Gadkari said that the auto sector of the country has to be the most profitable sector. This will also help in creating employment opportunities.

1. After the completion of registration period of any vehicle, fitness test of those vehicles will be mandatory.

2. It will be compulsory to provide fitness test to individual vehicles after 20 years and commercial vehicles after 15 years.

3. If a vehicle fails in the FITNESS test, then penalty will have to be paid for using it. It will be believed that the life of this vehicle is over now when the fitnes test fails.

4. There is also a provision to encourage old vehicle owners to scrap their car. The government has made this incentive so that at least a number of old vehicles can be registered.

5. The charge for re-registration of old vehicles will also be increased.

6. Automated fitness centers will be opened across the country. This will help in testing and issuing certificates of old vehicles.

Up to 25% off on scraping old vehicles

To encourage scraping of vehicles, the government will make arrangements that vehicle owners will be given a scrap value of 4 to 6 percent. Apart from this, they will also be given up to 25 percent exemption in road tax. Vehicle manufacturers will also be asked to give up to 5 percent discount to their customers on showing the scraping certificate.

It is estimated that older vehicles pollute 10-12 percent more than new vehicles. The government had already said that a green tax will be imposed on old vehicles that cause pollution. The fund collected from the Green Tax will be spent on the work of reducing the environment and pollution. However, vehicles running on hybrid models, electric vehicles, CNG, ethanol and LPG will be exempted.

Automobile industry will be up to 10 lakh crore rupees

It is being described as a major step towards boosting the automobile sector of the country. The situation in this sector is bad even before the Corona era. Gadkari said that with the introduction of this policy, the automobile industry of the country will get a boost of up to 30 percent. At present, it is an industry of 4.5 lakh rupees, which will increase to 10 lakh crore rupees in the coming years.
