New Sim Card Rule: The Indian government has taken strict steps to fight cyber fraud. Now strict action will be taken against those who misuse SIM cards. According to the new rules, if a person misuses the SIM card, his name will be put on the blacklist and he will not get a SIM card for three years.

New rules made to prevent scams

To protect crores of mobile users, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has taken steps to prevent cyber crimes committed by misuse of SIM cards. Under this initiative, a big list is being prepared which will include the names of those who have misused SIM cards, such as taking a SIM card in someone else’s name or sending fake messages. Recently, TRAI had made some rules to stop fake call and SMS scams, after which lakhs of mobile numbers were closed.

What will the government do if found guilty?

Strict punishment will be given to those who misuse SIM cards. The names of those who have misused SIM cards will be put on the blacklist. They will not get any new SIM card for 6 months to 3 years. Taking a SIM card in someone else’s name or sending fake messages will now be considered a crime.

Starting from 2025, the names of the people included in the blacklist will be given to all telecom companies so that they cannot give them a new SIM card. The government is preparing such a list. People who have broken the rules will be given 7 days to respond. If there is a very serious matter, the government can take action even without any notice.

The new rules in November 2024 will strengthen cyber security. These rules will prevent SIM card fraud and increase people’s trust in telecom services.
