Tejas Mark-2: According to HAL Chairman R Madhavan, the strength of the India Air Force is going to increase. By next year, a new and more powerful version of the fighter aircraft Tejas (Tejas Mark-2) can be revealed.
NEW DELHI: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited ( HAL ) Chairman and Managing Director R. Madhavan ( Rk Madhavan said) that the indigenous Tejas ( Tejas ) a new version of the multipurpose fighter is likely to encounter in 2022 next year. It will have powerful engines, weapon carrying capacity, next generation electronic combat system and many superior aeronautical systems.
The new version of Tejas will be more powerful
Madhavan told that the high speed test of the new version of Tejas aircraft will begin in 2023. Structural and other works related to Tejas Mark-2 are going on quite well and production is likely to start by 2025. He said that the improved version will have better structure, better ability to travel long distances as well as better maintenance. It will be capable of carrying more weapons and will also be equipped with stronger engine capability and superior combat systems. He said that as the range and bearing capacity increases, the new version will be more powerful than the Tejas Mark-1.
New version expected to be revealed by September
The Indian Air Force is buying 73 Tejas Mark-1 from HAL under a deal of Rs 48,000 crore. The government approved the deal on 13 January. Madhavan said that Tejas Mark-2 ( Tejas Mark-2 ) is likely to be revealed by August-September of 2022, after which the first flight will take some time. The high-speed test of the aircraft will begin in 2023. We expect production to begin around 2025.
