Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday launched the ‘Union Budget Mobile App’ for Members of Parliament (MPs) and the general public. Through this app, the general public and the public will have direct access to budget documents. This app has been developed by the National Informatics Center in association with the Department of Economic Affairs.

It has been launched on the occasion of the customary ‘halwa’ ceremony ahead of the budget. The app has access to 14 central budget documents, in which information related to the budget such as annual financial statement, demand for grant (DG), finance bill etc. will be available. However, this information will be installed in this app only after the Finance Minister’s budget speech on February 1.

This app is available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. In this app, users have been given many features, including downloading, printing of documents, search, zoom in and out etc. The special thing is that through this, users will be able to get budget information in both Hindi and English languages. The budget could not be printed this year due to the Corona epidemic. For this reason, the budget is available in soft copy only. This is going to be the first time after independence when MPs will be given a soft copy instead of giving a physical copy of the budget. The first part of the budget session will run from 29 January to 15 February and the second part will run from 8 March to 8 April.
