UP Police Recruitment: News of great relief has come for the youth of Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi Adityanath government has taken a significant decision for candidates awaiting police recruitment, directly benefiting thousands of candidates. The state government has announced a three-year age relaxation for recruitment to 32,679 posts. This decision follows long-standing demands. Both the Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party had been demanding age relaxation from the government on this issue, which has now been approved.

This decision by CM Yogi has brought significant relief to candidates. It has been reported that a three-year age relaxation will be available for direct recruitment to the UP Police and Jail Department. This decision by the Chief Minister paves the way for recruitment to various departments of the police and jail departments. Under this mega recruitment drive, appointments will be made to several positions, including constables (constables), PAC, Special Security Force (UPSSF), women battalions, and jail warders.

Under which rule was the decision taken?

This government decision was made in light of Rule 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Public Services (Relaxation of Age Limit for Recruitment) Rules, 1992. The decision, implemented through a government order issued on January 5, 2026, in continuation of the recruitment notification issued on December 31, 2025, will provide opportunities to a large number of candidates who were previously excluded from the recruitment process due to age restrictions.

A statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office stated that the decision was taken in the best interests of the candidates. This step taken by CM Yogi clearly demonstrates that the state government is concerned about the future of the youth, understands their real problems, and is determined to take concrete decisions to address them. Providing opportunities for candidates preparing for competitive exams, providing a wide range of employment options, and maintaining sensitivity in administrative decisions have become a part of the Yogi government’s working style.

SP and BJP had made the demand

Regarding the increase in the age limit for the police recruitment exam, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, BJP leader and MLA Shalabhmani Tripathi, and several public representatives had written to CM Yogi, demanding relaxation in the age limit.
