The country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train arrived in New Delhi and will soon operate between Guwahati and Kolkata. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, after inspecting the train, announced that eight more Vande Bharat sleeper trains will be operational within the next six months. The train will run at a speed of 180 km/h and will feature modern features such as armor protection systems, fire safety systems, and AI cameras. Fares will be significantly lower than air travel.
Vande Bharat sleeper train: State Bureau, New Delhi. The country’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train arrived at New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday. It is scheduled to begin operating between Guwahati and Kolkata this month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag it off.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav inspected the train at New Delhi Railway Station and took stock of its amenities. He stated that eight new Vande Bharat Sleeper trains will be launched in the next six months. This number will increase to 12 by the end of the year.
The minister stated that the train will begin operating within the next 15 to 20 days. This will be the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train connecting two states. This will be a significant initiative towards improving rail travel in India.
The 16-coach AC train has a passenger capacity of 823. Eleven coaches are third AC, four are second AC, and one is first AC. Third AC can accommodate 611 passengers, second AC 188, and first AC 24.
The train can travel at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour. Along with amenities, special attention has been paid to safety. It is equipped with an automatic train protection system (Air Protector), a fire safety system, and AI-based cameras. It has sensor-equipped doors.
While the seats are comfortable, cleanliness has also been carefully monitored. Disinfectant technology is included to maintain high hygiene standards. This technology kills 99.9 percent of germs.
The fare for this train will be 2,300 rupees with meals in third AC, 3,000 rupees in second AC, and 3,600 rupees in first AC. The minister said that the airfare from Guwahati to Kolkata is 6,000 to 8,000 rupees.
