UP Govt Orders Half Day in Schools on Monday: In view of the ongoing Kavad Yatra in Uttar Pradesh and the movement of Kavad pilgrims across the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued necessary instructions regarding schools. Schools in the state will be closed on Monday at 12:15 pm i.e. half a day. In view of the Kavad Yatra, as per the order already issued, the decision to keep schools and colleges closed from 4th to 12th August is also applicable in many districts. This decision of the administration has been taken in view of the increasing crowd on the roads and movement of devotees during the Kavad Yatra.
Schools will be closed at 12:15
As per the instructions of the Uttar Pradesh government, schools will be closed on Monday at 12:15 pm instead of regular classes. Its objective is to ensure the convenience and safety of students and their families amid increased traffic during Kanwar Yatra. Due to Kanwar Yatra, a large number of devotees and Kavadias are traveling in different parts of the state. Keeping this in view, necessary changes have been made by the administration regarding the operation of schools.
Many schools and colleges will remain closed from 4 to 12 August.
Under the already issued order, instructions have been given to keep classes closed in schools as well as colleges, universities and technical institutes from August 4 to 12. This order is applicable to both government and private higher educational institutions. There will be holiday in schools for students from nursery to class 12th. Apart from this, schools affiliated to Basic Education Council, Secondary Education Council, CBSE, ICSE and Madrassa Board are also under the purview of this order. Apart from this, in view of the increasing crowd during Kanwar Yatra, regular classes will also remain closed in government and private colleges, universities and technical institutes running in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. However, a separate provision has been made in the order regarding the already scheduled examinations. In institutions where the examination is already scheduled, the concerned examination can be conducted as per the prescribed schedule. This means that due to holiday, the already fixed examination schedule will not be affected.
The order is already in force in these districts
In view of the Kanwar Yatra, orders have already been issued to keep educational institutions closed in many districts including Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad and Meerut. According to the government, the administration is keeping an eye on the situation during the yatra and further instructions can be issued as per the need. Whereas Shravan month started from 30th July 2026 and Shravan Shivratri is on 11th August, due to increase in the movement of Kanwariyas during this period, this step has been taken by the administration keeping in mind the security and traffic system.
