There is going to be a big change in the UPI system from June 16. NPCI has made a big change in the rules. The circular related to this was issued in April. Users should be aware of the new rules.

UPI system: According to recent data, more than 50 crore people are using Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for P2P and P2M transactions. National Payments Corporation of India keeps making changes related to the platform keeping in mind the security and convenience of the users. The rules have changed again. Many updates are going to happen on June 16. Due to which the payment will be faster than before.

NPCI had issued a circular on 26 April 2025 regarding the new changes related to UPI. In which it has announced to reduce the response time for UPI service. This decision will benefit millions of Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and BHIM UPI users. Digital payments will also improve. Time for many activities will also be reduced.

Instructions also issued to banks and apps

NPCI had also instructed all banks and UPI service providers and participating merchants to upgrade the system to handle the new faster response time. They were also asked to prepare to process transactions more efficiently. So that these changes do not increase the chances of technical errors or failed transactions.

These services will now take less time

Now the request for debit and credit payment will take 15 seconds to respond, which was 30 seconds earlier. Checking the status of the transaction will also not take much time now, the time for this service has been reduced from 30 seconds to 10 seconds. The response time for transaction reversal (debit and credit) has also been reduced from 30 seconds to 10 seconds. Verifying UPI ID will also now take 10 seconds instead of 15 seconds. Let us tell you that APCI has taken this step to improve the services. Apart from this, many changes are going to happen in August as well. According to the circular issued on May 21, now 50 attempts will be allowed for each user to check the balance.
