Britain’s Home Minister James Cleverley said that due to restrictions on visa routes being implemented from January 1, foreign students including those from India will not be able to bring their relatives with them to Britain. The government has implemented new rules to cut migration by the thousands and prevent people from manipulating the country’s immigration system.
According to the Office for National Statistics, 7.45 lakh migrants came to Britain by December 2022 and 1.52 lakh visas were issued to dependents of students by the end of September 2023. According to Ministry of External Affairs data, 1.39 lakh Indian students (without dependents) arrived in Britain for studies in 2022.
