If you are planning a vacation getaway or are about to book a flight for a business trip, this news will have a direct impact on your wallet. IndiGo has announced an increase in fuel surcharges for both domestic and international flights. These new rates have come into effect for all new bookings made after 12:01 AM on April 2, 2026. This means that you will now have to spend more on your air travel compared to before. Let’s find out just how much more expensive it has become to travel to your favorite cities following this decision.

Why Did Ticket Prices Rise Suddenly?

There has been a massive global surge in the prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). According to data, fuel prices in this sector have recorded a month-over-month increase of over 130%. However, following the intervention of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, airlines have currently implemented only a partial hike of 25% to ensure that the financial burden on passengers remains somewhat mitigated.
