Delhi government has set new guidelines for those public vehicles whose period has been completed. The Delhi government has decided to impose a fine of Rs 10,000 for such four-wheelers and Rs 5,000 for two-wheelers. Such vehicles will be immediately confiscated and the owners will have to pay a fine to get these vehicles back. The government has implemented this guideline to remove expired vehicles from public places in the city. For this, daily reports related to this are being sent to the Environment Ministry and the Commission for Air Quality Management.

How to take back seized vehicles..

According to a report in ‘The Times Of India’, vehicles that have completed the expiry date can be taken back in two categories. These vehicles should be driven outside Delhi-NCR and parked in private or non-shared space. To release such seized vehicles, fines will be imposed on them and parking fees will also be collected from them. Vehicles that are repossessed or diesel vehicles older than 10 years will not be released.

Petrol cars will be allowed to drive for 15 years from the date of first registration. Car owners who have diesel cars will be allowed to drive them only for 10 years. Similarly, scooters and motorcycles will be allowed to operate for 15 years. To get the vehicle back, vehicle owners will have to submit an application in just three weeks. This application can be given online so that vehicle owners can get convenience.

Vehicles will be scrapped in three circumstances

  • If the vehicle owner does not submit the application for vehicle release on time
  • Application gets rejected
  • Has been seized for the second time

The scrap value will be digitally transferred to the vehicle owner’s bank account within 15 days.

Rebate up to Rs 50,000 in road tax

Delhi government has also recently proposed a new policy to get exemption in road tax. In this, customers paying road tax will get a discount of up to Rs 50,000. This will depend on the type of scrapped vehicle and its age. Vehicle owners can get a maximum rebate of up to Rs 50,000 on disposing of vehicles older than 15 years. However, commercial vehicles will get less exemption than this. However, this policy has not been implemented yet.
