GST Council Meeting: The 56th meeting of the GST Council will be held on 3 and 4 September in New Delhi. Notification has been issued for this. Next generation reforms related to GST will be proposed in the meeting.

GST Council Meeting: The 56th meeting of the GST Council will be held on 3 and 4 September in New Delhi. Notification has been issued for this. Next generation reforms related to GST will be proposed in the meeting. Especially, the proposal includes only two (five and 18 percent) tax slabs instead of the existing four tax slabs of GST. Along with this, reform proposals related to GST registration, returns and refunds are also included.

At present, there are tax slabs of 5, 12, 18 and 28 percent in GST, instead of which there will be only two slabs in future. On Thursday, the Group of Ministers (GOM) approved the proposal to abolish the tax slabs of 12 and 28 percent. Along with this, the GST Council was also recommended to keep two slabs in future.

Now these proposals are to be discussed in the GST Council. Keeping this in mind, a meeting of the GST Council has been called. Before the meeting of the Council, there will also be a meeting of officials on 2 September.

PM Modi has already given indications

Keep in mind that the Prime Minister had announced on 15 August that this time before Diwali, the common people will get a big gift. Food items and other essential goods related to the needs of the common man, poor, middle class will be cheaper. After the announcement of the Prime Minister, a series of meetings is going on continuously. Earlier, meetings of the Group of Ministers have been held and now the date for the meeting of the GST Council has been fixed.

Information given to all the states

In a statement issued by the GST Council, it has been said that detailed information related to the venue and agenda of the meeting will be made available from time to time. The Council has directed the Chief Secretaries of all the states and union territories to inform the Finance/Taxation Minister or nominated minister of their respective states to attend this meeting. The meeting will also be attended by the Union Finance Minister, Minister of State for Finance, representatives from all States and Union Territories, CBIC Chairman and CEO of GST Network.
