Gurugram News: Only 87 got shelter under PM housing scheme

Gurugram The work of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana started with the aim of providing houses to the poor and weaker sections is going on at a very slow pace in Municipal Corporation Gurugram. However, not only the corporation administration but the applicants are also responsible for this. According to the municipal authorities, since the inception of the scheme in 2017, only 537 applications have been approved.

Of this, most of the applications during verification did not meet the standards of the scheme, after which only 87 were finally approved. Out of these 87, 64 funds have been released under the scheme while the first installment will be released to 23 applicants soon. However, the Municipal Corporation has received more than 1 thousand applications for availing the PM Awas Yojana, out of which only 537 were finalized. Of these, 450 applications did not meet the standards during verification, which were rejected, while 87 applications were approved.




17 applicants completed construction

Of the 87 applications approved under the scheme, 64 have been given the first installment, while 54 applicants have been given the second installment. At the same time, construction work of 17 applicants’ houses has been completed. The first installment will be released to 23 applicants in the next 1-2 months. According to municipal officials, during the physical verification of the applications, most of the applications were rejected due to lack of ownership-related documents, while many applications were made on the disputed land. According to the corporation officials, to avail the scheme, the applicant must be a resident of Lal Dora area (non-registered land in rural areas). Apart from this, the certified land and registered land owner by Patwari, Numberdar, Councilor are also entitled to apply under the scheme.

Funds are available in three installments

BLC (Beneficial Led Construction) is new and BLC enhancement under the scheme. Under BLC New, the applicant is paid Rs 2.50 lakh to build a new house whereas under BLC enhancement, the applicant adds some new part to the already built house. Under this, the applicant is given Rs 1.50 lakh from the government for the construction of the building. Under both categories, the beneficiary is given funds in three installments. Two installments of 1-1 lakh and third installment of 50 thousand are given in BLC (New), while in BLC (I) two installments of 60-60 thousand and third installment of 30 thousand.

Our aim is to provide the benefit of the scheme to all the beneficiaries who meet the standards of PM Awas Yojana. At times, ineligible people also apply for the purpose of taking advantage of the scheme, whose application is canceled during physical verification. Further, the applicants who will meet the standards of the scheme will be given full benefits.
