Indian Railways, 95 Trains Cancelled, Cyclone Jawad: The low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal will take the form of Cyclone Jawad in a few hours. In such a situation, the East Coast Railway has directed to cancel 95 trains for December 3 and 4 in view of the safety of passengers amid the alert of Cyclone Jawad.

East Coast Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Vishwajit Sahu told that 95 trains have been canceled keeping in mind the safety of passengers in view of cyclonic storm Jawad. Sahu said that 95 trains, including up-and-down trains operated by East Coast Railway and passing through this area, have been disrupted for December 3 and 4.

Train cancellation list

Sahu elaborated that the East Coast Railway is informing people about the canceled trains due to cyclonic storm through social media and media organizations. Also, if the effect of cyclonic storm Jawad becomes more severe, then some more trains can be canceled. Among these canceled trains are Purushottam Express, Nilanchal Express, Nandankanan Express going from Puri to New Delhi, as well as up and down trains running between Bhubaneshwar to Delhi Rajdhani Express.

The storm again stopped the way of the train

This is the second time in six months that the storm has blocked the way of trains. Earlier in the last week of May, trains were canceled due to cyclone ‘Yas’. East Coast Railway has currently canceled 95 trains in view of the threat of storm ‘Jawad’. Some more trains may also be canceled if the effect of the cyclone is severe.

Railway took steps due to heavy rain

The cyclone, which originated near the Andaman Sea, is affecting the Bay of Bengal as well as the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean this time. In such a situation, there is a possibility of heavy rain. The rain may cause water logging on the railway track. Other equipment including railway signaling service may be affected. Electric poles can also be damaged by heavy rains. This is the reason why the Railways has already canceled trains running on the storm-affected rail routes as a precaution.
