Vande Bharat sleeper train: The fatigue of long journeys in India will now be a thing of the past, as a new era is about to begin for Indian Railways passengers. By the end of December this year, the country’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train will hit the tracks. This train will be a perfect blend of Tejas’s speed, Rajdhani’s comfort, and Vande Bharat’s modern technology. Indian Railways is preparing for the trial run in full swing, and passengers are eagerly awaiting it. According to railway sources, two racks are being manufactured at the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) factory in Bengaluru. Finishing of one of these racks has been completed. The first rack will depart for Northern Railway on December 12th.
First Rack Ready, Trial Run Soon
According to railway sources, trial runs of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train will begin on the Patna-Delhi route. Railway officials stated that regular operations will commence once the report is approved on time. Danapur division officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that regular operations will begin by the end of the month. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also provided an update that this train will be a game-changer for long-distance travelers.
Comfortable Journey in Three Classes
This train will have a total of 16 coaches, with 827 berths. Third AC includes 11 coaches (611 berths), Second AC four coaches (188 berths), and First AC one coach (24 berths). The number of coaches can be expanded to 24 if needed. The train is designed to ensure passengers can sleep comfortably overnight. Estimated fares are expected to be around ₹2,000 for Third AC, which is similar to Rajdhani fares, but with better amenities.
Modern facilities and high speed
The Vande Bharat Sleeper will feature automatic doors, bio-toilets, CCTV cameras, personal reading lights on each berth, and a premium interior. For safety, it features a Kavach anti-collision system and a crash-proof body design. The maximum speed will be 160-180 km/h, making the Delhi-Patna journey in 11-11.5 hours. It will run via Prayagraj, making overnight journeys more convenient.
Schedule Similar to Tejas Rajdhani
The Vande Bharat Sleeper train will run six days a week. It will depart from Patna’s Rajendra Nagar Terminal in the evening and arrive in Delhi the next morning. The return schedule will be similar to the Tejas Rajdhani Express. The initial phase will focus on Delhi-Patna, with routes like Mumbai-Patna and Bangalore-Patna to be added later. According to reports, the Railways aims to increase the number of Vande Bharat trains from 164 to more.
Passengers Expect New Facilities
Millions of passengers travel daily on the Patna-Delhi route. This train will not only save time but also enhance comfort. Passengers say that the popularity of Vande Bharat has already been proven, and now the sleeper version will make long journeys easier. The Railways has begun preparations for ticket booking on the IRCTC app. This launch will set an example of ‘Make in India’, taking the Railways to new heights.
Future and Route Expansion
According to the Railway Ministry, the Sleeper Vande Bharat is designed to replace the Rajdhani Express. There are plans to run it on routes like Gorakhpur-Delhi after December. This will not only reduce travel time but also boost tourism and trade. Experts believe that this train will also increase the Railways’ revenue.
