Why won’t the mobile charging facility be available on the train now at night?

Indian Railways has taken precautionary steps to prevent the occurrence of fire in the moving train. Now it has been decided by the Indian Railways that passengers will not be allowed to use the mobile charging port in the train between 11 am and 5 am. This information has been given by senior railway officials.

Do you also put your mobile or laptop on charging as soon as you board the train. If you also have the habit of finding a charging point in the train instead of leaving the journey on full charge from your mobile-laptop, then change it now. Railways has decided that now you will not get the facility of charging in the moving train from 11 am to 5 am.

Due to this, there will be no incidents of mobile theft, mobile bursting and arson during the train journey at night. This charging rule has been implemented in many trains. On 13 March 2021, the Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express caught fire due to mobile charging. This fire started with one coach and on seeing it spread to 7 coaches.

On 16 March, Western Railway started stopping the power supply of these charging ports. Western Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Sumit Thakur said, “This is a directive of the Railway Board for all railways. We have implemented it from March 16.”

CPRO of Southern Railway B Guganesan said that these instructions of Indian Railways are not new, but through this the earlier order of Railway Board has been repeated. Soon after the incident of the Bangalore-Hazur Sahib Nanded Express fire in 2014, the Commissioner of Railway Safety recommended that all the charging ports should be closed between 11 am and 5 am. The Railway Board has finally issued such orders to all rail zones.
