IRCTC Tatkal Ticket Booking New Rule: Booking Tatkal tickets from Indian Railways has been no less than a dream for common passengers. Every day lakhs of passengers try on IRCTC website (irctc.co.in), but due to website hanging, slow speed and bots, many times the ticket remains in waiting. In such a situation, passengers have to face great disappointment. Now to end this problem, the Ministry of Railways has taken a big decision.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced that Indian Railways will soon introduce e-Aadhaar authentication system for Tatkal ticket booking. Its purpose is to prevent fake passengers and brokers and give priority to real passengers. The Railway Minister said, “Indian Railways will soon introduce e-Aadhaar authentication for Tatkal ticket booking. This will enable needy and genuine passengers to get confirmed tickets.”

How will the Aadhaar authentication system work?

The passenger will receive OTP on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar. Verification has to be completed by entering the OTP on the IRCTC website. Verified users will get the facility of instant ticket booking.

IRCTC said that users who are not verified with Aadhaar will be able to book Tatkal, Premium Tatkal or ARP tickets on IRCTC only after 3 days of registration. Whereas Aadhaar verified users will not have any such restriction. Railways also said that with the help of AI technology, it has identified and deactivated more than 2.5 crore fake and suspicious IRCTC user IDs.

According to IRCTC, 50% of login attempts in the first 5 minutes of Tatkal ticket booking are from bots, due to which real passengers are unable to book tickets. Now the Railways has implemented an anti-bot system. It has partnered with a large Content Delivery Network (CDN) service. The server has also been improved.

When will the new system be implemented?

The Railway Ministry has said that these rules will be implemented very soon. At present the date has not been officially announced. Passengers have to do some work before this. Link your IRCTC account with Aadhaar. Make sure that your mobile number is linked to Aadhaar. If you are a new user, then register as soon as possible so that you can avoid waiting for 3 days.
