These days a video is going viral on social media. In it, two teenagers are seen tying the legs and mouth of a dog and throwing it into a pond. After throwing the dog into the pond, the two teenagers also throw stones at him. This was done with the intention of drowning the dog. Now the animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has taken it seriously.
Calling it a criminal act, PETA has appealed to people to give information regarding the two criminals seen in the viral video. PETA has announced a reward of Rs 50,000 to the informer. It has also been said by PETA that the identity of the person giving information in this regard will be kept secret. The information can be called or emailed to the emergency helpline number of PETA India.
Meet Ashar, associate manager of the Emergency Response Team of PETA India, urged people to share information regarding the viral video, saying that violent people often start violence with animals and later target humans. This is believed by psychologists.
He said that 60 per cent of the women believed that those who treated them abusively harmed their pet dogs or other animals first. It is worth mentioning that PETA wrote a letter taking seriously the lack of food grains for animals during the lockdown. PETA had also asked to file criminal cases against those who had given up pets.
